In the blogosphere it is no secret that I am known as the “cheerleader”…funny because in high school I actually was a cheerleader! I cheered for the football team and it truly came to me naturally! I enjoy supporting others and want nothing more than for everyone to succeed in all they do. In the blogosphere I often get told, “you do a great job at showcasing your friends” and again, it’s because I enjoy doing so. I don’t look for anything in return and know that those that truly support me do the same for me without any questions asked. That’s why I support my fellow bloggers right from the start!
This past weekend I showed love for the #WeAllGrow conference and cheered my fellow bloggers on because there was so much excitement in my stream, how could I not? I wasn’t with them physically but I felt them in my feeds, in my hustle, and they share what I love to do…write, tell stories, connect, and light up social media! Supporting them gave me nothing but joy to root them on. Even though I was miles away, they felt my presence because many of them tweeted back thanking me for always being a great supporter! That was enough satisfaction for me.
I will continue to do the same for other conferences that I am unable to attend due to my responsibilities in the classroom because it’s part of who I am. Would I love to attend every conference? Of course. I’d probably go through some “mommy guilt” if I were to head out of town that often, but right now it’s not possible anyway due to my teaching profession. I also don’t have the luxury of grandparents or family members nearby with whom I feel comfortable enough to leave my children with for long periods of time. Why shouldn’t I still be able to support my fellow bloggers even if I am not on-site at every event? Should I ignore them because I am not right by their side, hiding from my stream until it’s over? No way! I join in and I let them know that, near or far….I am there!!! That’s the power of social media!
As the next awesome conference quickly approaches, I will be lighting up my stream with support for them as well. Hispanicize15 will be taking place and again I will not be present physically, but you can watch both my Twitter stream and my Instagram feed as I follow along with all the goodness these conferences have to offer. Supporting others is what I am known for, and it’s something that many have taken note of. I hope to be an inspiration to others as I model the true way to behave within social media. It’s positive interaction like this that takes you a longer way while giving you instant gratification. Instead of supporting yourself all of the time, promise to support others…it’s a feeling like no other and your generosity will go a long way!
