Being a mother of two boys is no easy task but it’s the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. I remember when my first child was born I quickly became (and remain) that “helicopter mom.” I wanted to wrap him up in a bubble and never let him get sick or be in pain. I did everything possible from hand sanitizer to not allowing anyone to come over when he was sick. After about eleven months, he was struck with his first ear infection and I was a nervous wreck when his fever spiked, not knowing at that moment what was causing the fever. Of course, I had heard so much about febrile seizures that I was in panic mode. My husband and I were on high alert the entire night, We all know those fevers have a tendency to spike at night, right? That’s exactly what happened and at that moment I wanted to curl up myself and cry in my own mother’s arms.
When I noticed his cheeks get a rosy pink and he felt extremely warm, I contacted his pediatrician. She responded immediately and recommended TYLENOL®. This was no surprise, but of course I didn’t want to administer anything to my little angel without the consultation of a doctor. Luckily, I was gifted plenty of Infants’ TYLENOL at my baby shower so it was right at my fingertips. I administered the amount that she suggested and was told to take him into her office the next morning. I did exactly what she directed and that’s when he was diagnosed with his ear infection. It felt good to know that I was giving him a product that is the #1 brand recommended by pediatricians and has been used for over 20 years. For more information on this product you can visit Tylenol.com, just like I do!
My husband and I tended to our baby and he was given antibiotics for his “double ear infection.” I felt so bad for him the way he moped around and he was just so clingy. I was grateful to be home with him during that time. Nothing made me feel better than knowing that he had my hugs, kisses, and the right product the night of his fever and the day after his diagnosis to make him smile again. Within a day or two, he was back to his normal, bubbly self, babbling away and getting into everything around the house. His smile was as bright as ever because he knew he was well taken care of. There was no greater feeling than to have him back to the way he was before he was feeling sick.
I feel grateful knowing that we have a product like TYLENOL® to help relieve minor aches and pains due to cold, flu, headache, sore throat and toothaches. It temporarily reduces fever, like it did for our baby, and makes them feel more comfortable until they are diagnosed and treated appropriately. Many children across the country are NOT as lucky as my son. They can’t get the proper care they need, or even see a doctor. Many live day to day with untreated illness and they are really at a disadvantage.
For them, I love that Paul Simon & Dr. Irwin Redlener were inspired to create Children’s Health Fund. Their 50 mobile clinics provide health care to sick children in rural areas and urban neighborhoods throughout the country. Everyone who is a part of this #SmilingItForward Campaign, including actress Alyson Hannigan (mom ambassador for Smiling It Forward™) understands that every child deserves and needs a healthy future. When you share a photo that makes you smile at SmilingItForward.com, TYLENOL® will make a $1 donation to the Children’s Fund, which will ensure a doctor’s visit is always within reach for children in need. Reading that last sentence alone would bring a smile to my face, and I want to snap a selfie for good health to help children in need. All I have to think about is the smile of my own boys after they have been sick and I could donate a million dollars for every time that image makes me smile.
I urge my readers to join forces with me to help all parents and family members smile after seeing the face of that helpless little one feeling all better. Let’s share our smiles at SmilingItForward.com and change the way we keep our children of the future healthy! Join me for a wonderful cause that will truly make you smile!
